Part-Time Teachers
Our present school commitment is to have all part-time staff teach consecutive class periods. This needs to change due to our growing curriculum and student numbers. We must have some leeway in scheduling. Our new commitment to part-time staff will be to have all assigned classes as follows:
(1) Be consecutive class periods, if possible.
(2) To be morning or afternoon in the class schedule.
(3) To be separated by only one hour, if separation is needed.
(4) If an assignment can be made for the additional period, said period will be compensated by adding an additional 1/7 pay to that teacher’s contract. Follow the salary schedule. This additional assignment will be in that teacher’s major or minor field.
(5) If the part-time teacher is unwilling to accept that additional assignment, they will have free time and no compensation.
(6) A part-time teacher will also be compensated for part of a prep period.
The compensation will be prorated to match their assigned time. (Example: A 4/7 teacher would be compensated for 4/7 of a prep period.)
